Prince Harry makes world-wide news by
promoting EMDR Therapy and
opening up about EMDR for
Trauma, Grief, Stress and Anxiety.

Prince Harry has spoken about the trauma of losing his mother when he was 12 and how therapy has helped him.

In an interview with Oprah Winfrey for their jointly produced docuseries about mental health issues, “The Me You Can’t See”, he shares the role that one form of therapy—EMDR—has played in dealing with past trauma.

Prince Harry made a deeply personal disclosure, and shared he sought EMDR to process the death of his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales. He described how living with the trauma of her death made him feel “helpless”, “hunted”, and as if “there is no escape”.

“One of the biggest lessons I’ve ever learned in life is you’ve sometimes got to go back and deal with really uncomfortable situations and be able to process it in order to be able to heal,” Harry said in the interview.

Now, Sandra Bullock has opened up about her own EMDR therapy to deal with the trauma she endured after experiencing a home invasion break-in in 2014 while she hid in a closet. “I wasn’t the same after that,” she says.

Appearing on Red Table Talk, the Oscar-winner got candid about the mental health repercussions of the incident. “I didn’t realize what PTSD was,” she said, before recounting the horrifying experience.

She decided to get some help, explaining that she began her healing process with EMDR. “I discovered something called EMDR, which was the most healing.”

Paris Jackson is among several celebrities opening up to how EMDR therapy changed their lives and helped them heal from their traumas. Paris claims EMDR helped her with PTSD and cope with paparazzi harassment after the death of her father, Michael Jackson. “I love EMDR. It’s very intense,” she stated on an episode of Red Table Talk.

EMDR, short for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a therapy method used to combat mental health problems like PTSD, trauma and anxiety. To find an EMDR therapist in your area, contact EMDRIA.org

NOTE —

EMDR is a highly specialized protocol for treatment, and should ONLY be administered by a Licensed Mental Health Professional. If you are able to obtain a “Certified” and/or “Consultant” EMDR specialist in your area, they have spent many extra hours (think internship), and elevated training requirements to become Certified in this field of study, and have invested in added consultations with other EMDR experts.
